This irrigated variety trial is based on the Eastern side of Emerald and compares Sicot 606B3F with five BG3XF varieties. Sicot 619B3XF, Sicot 743B3XF, Sicot 761B3XF, Siokra 253B3XF and Sicala 320B3XF. This is the first time Sicala 320B3XF has been grown in the Central Highlands. Sicot 619B3XF stood out in terms of early vigour. Varieties began squaring above the fith node. Minor tipping-out was caused by the continuing mirid pressure. The trial began flowering the first week of November at 14 to 16 nodes and seven Nodes Above White Flower (NAWF). The low initial total retention of 56 to 76% improved during the first weeks of flowering.
