This is a late planted variety trial planted random and replicated 4 times. Again, a fallow field that has been redeveloped into a bankless design over the previous 12mths. Things started positively with no dramas with watering up. On the evening of the 16th of December the crop was damaged by a fairly dramatic storm event that included hail from the east. The majority of the crop was reduced to 3-4 nodes with little leaf. Some of which was inundated. As is usually the case the hail brought on an outbreak of Verticillium. Each variety managed its way through that in different ways. The period around Valentine's Day saw an extended period of cloud that coincided with peak flowering. This is typically a very stressful period for any cotton plant. The verticillium pressure again made itself present. There likely was more than 1 strain of verticillium present. The extended dry run of weather through to harvest ultimately helped achieve a higher than expected outcome. The Sicot 606 B3F being as resilient as it is dealt with the circumstances the best for the year it was.
