This is a try before you buy trial evaluating current technology against the latest material. Sicot 606 B3F was the remainder of the field. This was managed for that variety. These types of trials have outcomes just beyond how things are going at a local level. Barry Otto, farm manager is part of the planting and harvesting process, the farm's agronomy company Poole Ag staff use it to train or expose their junior agronomists to how each line grows. Their TUA provider's agronomist also spent time collecting data with us. The farms ginning and marketing people become involved after the crop is off. Everyone is interacting. The site chosen has some mixed Soil types. Planting occurred just outside of an old pelerang. The trial design was a block style where we had a strip of Sicot 606 B3F between Siokra 253 B3XF and CSX 1320 B3XF now named (Sicala 320 B3XF). It benefits from the Sicala name because of its inheritant fibre traits which the commercial classing data highlighted. The final plant stands while not perfect did suffer some poor seed / soil / moisture contact principally because the planter likely was about 1 setting too shallow. The post planting pre-emergent application of Diuron is noticeable. Our Siokra 253 B3XF final plant stand was slightly gappy. Outside of that the regular watering with little in crop rain meant things happened the way you plan it out. Sicala 320 B3XF out yielded Sicot 606 B3F by .24bale per ha. The fibre length was a 41 meaning a premium. No issues with micronaire. The Sicot 606 B3F experienced a % of bales with high micronaire.
