In this trial the Sicala 320B3XF produced the highest yield at 15.43 ba/ha. The field average was 15.2 ba/ha, with Sicot 743B2XF averaging 15.18 and Sicot 748B3F 15.03, respectively, from the commercial gin results. Both commercial and CSD 25 saw lint was classed, and in both cases the length of the Sicala 320B3XF was good at 1.26 and 1.28 inches, respectively. Despite the final yield result and good fibre quality, the establishment of the Sicala 320B3XF had given concern at the start of the season, with its emergence 10% less than the other varieties. The structure of the resulting crop also meant that it did not receive a flowering mepiquat application, whereas both Sicot 748B3F and 743B3XF got 50 ml. The trial highlights the potential of Sicala 320B3XF within the Macquarie, how Sicot 743B3XF is well suited to the valley climate and that Sicot 748B3F is still a sound choice. A request was made to compare the Sicala 320B3XF with the new Sicot 757B3Xf in the 2026/27 season, so we will see what we can do.
