This side-by-side trial was located in a field that is on its 6th year back-to-back. It was chosen because of its consistent soil types and being for the most part on grade. The underlying disease pressure is not known. The farms staff took active ownership in the planting then the same people harvested the crop. Watering was timed and completed well. There was little interference from rain. First flower was mid December which was around 60 days from imbibement date. A cut out rate of Mepiquat was applied on the 22nd of January which is about 38 days from first flower or approximately at around node 20. This was around the time of 3 NAWF for the majority of the field being Sicot 761 B3XF. CSX 1257 B3XF likely was at a similar time maturity wise where the Sicot 743 B3XF being less determinant was still actively growing. Post cut out the crop entered a period of high day and night temperatures for an extended period of time. Defoliation was undertaken by a ground rig where only 2 applications where required starting mid-March. Picking occurred on the 4th of April. Sweet. Being of similar maturity the newer CSX 1257 B3XF won out over the Sicot 761 B3XF by a good margin. The additional benefit from the CSX 1257 B3XF the majority of the bales were 39 and greater in length and no issues with micronaire. Sicot 743 B3XF came in behind as number 2. I consider this variety one to start planting with sooner to extend the possible growing window. There was an opportunity to use Nufarm "Biffo" on the 28-11.
