This trial was planted dry on 7-10-25. Using water stored on farm the crop was watered up 2 days later. Being a fallow field the seed bed conditions at the time could not be any better. We thought. Using a modern planter set up with singulation they sowed 12 plants per m. With a target of at least 9 plants per m established this was not achieved or maintained at least with what followed. Problems started with an inadequate GPS signal. Then the crop received 15mm of rain October 17th. 9 days after imbibement. At a very young age we started seeing various possible disease issues arising. Andrew McKay Cottoninfo and I shipped plant material from all selections to the QDPI Pathology. These came back with the majority of the material showing Fusarium and Pythium. Early in the morning on the 23-11-2025 the crop was hailed on. This set it back to around 3-4 nodes. Fusarium again started to become a theme of the trial. For the majority of the summer because of the state of the crop ie inconsistent growing habits and the continuous infections from the local fusarium strain resorted to only conducting regular bolls. There are issues with day degree calculator not aligning to the correct growth stage for the crop. However, I have kept some canopy sensors running where they were not being confused by plants effected by Fusarium. Late season Andrew McKay again assisted with another round of plant samples where the results aligned with what we were visually seeing while Brent and his Staff continued to scout the crop. The majority of the field was Sicot 606 B3F. As practise I had a strip planted between the Xtend Flex lines of Sicot 606 B3F. This was not planted in a random / replicated fashion. Will and Cody plan to repeat the exercise again this summer.
